Reduce Your Exposure

The sun’s heat and damaging ultraviolet are the main causes of passenger discomfort and

premature aging of your car’s interior. By rejecting up to 63 percent of the sun’s total solar

energy and blocking almost 98 percent of damaging and harmful ultraviolet, our window films

function just like a sunscreen—shielding you and your cars interior from the sun’s damaging effects.

New Solar Gard Automotive Window Film Hits the Market.

  Considered Legal Shade for California.

Ultra Performance, is designed for consumers who seek to filter

out the sun's harmful rays without changing the appearance of their

  vehicle's windows. Ultra Performance's nanotechnology-enabled

performance maintains clear glass appearance, while being the first

on the market to provide a 75% visible light transmission (VLT) level

and an optional 49% VLT film that is lightly tinted. Other key benefits

  of Ultra Performance 75% include:

  * Total solar energy rejection performance of 40-48%;

  * Blocks 99% of Ultraviolet rays, protecting automobile interiors from premature fading;

  * Suitable for installation onto factory-tinted glass;

  * Complies with over 75% of U.S. states' tinting laws.

Solar Gard Supreme, is an upgrade to the traditionally dark, sleek and stylish window film.

This series is a complement to factory-tinted windows, and is a choice option for car owners who want the

traditional look of tinted windows. Solar Gard Supreme comes in visible light transmission levels of 70%, 50%,

40%, 28%, 15% & 8%. Other benefits of Solar Gard Supreme include:

  * Total solar energy rejection performance ranging 19-42%;

  * Blocks 99% of Ultraviolet rays, protecting automobile interiors from premature fading;

  * Extruded-dyed polyester offers dark, matte finish that will not degrade with exposure

     to the sun.

Both Ultra Performance and Supreme are made using an advanced process which is non-metallized, and the

films are not traditionally dyed, which enhances performance and finish. This allows for the film's unparalleled

color stability, maintaining appearance without turning purple. Further, the films do not interfere with radio

frequencies, maintaining complete use of cell phones, AM/FM radio and GPS. Both lines have scratch-resistant

coatings and are easily cleaned and maintained. In addition, both series carry a limited lifetime warranty.

Having problem viewing your navigational system screen during day light hours?

Window tinting can reduce the suns glare making the screen more visible.

(Example of suns glare on screen.)

*Window film can be applied over manufactured tinted windows*

Manufactured tinting (privacy glass) is actually a dye added to the glass when manufactured.

This type of glass gives you minimal UV and heat reduction.

Passengers unable to view the DVD screen during the day because of the suns rays?

Window tinting can make that ride a more pleasurable experience by substantially

reducing the suns glare.

(Example of screen being gray in appearance due to suns rays, making it difficult

for your passengers to enjoy the ride due to squinting at the screen.)

Skin Cancer Foundation:

Do You Know…?

Year-round sun protection is important. The sun can penetrate through automobile and residential windows.

It can damage your eyes, contributing to cataracts, macular degeneration, and eyelid cancers. Recently, to

combat these hidden dangers, The Skin Cancer Foundation, expanded its Seal of Recommendation program.

Now, in recognition of the need for extra forms of sun protection, several other types of products have been

awarded the Seal as well, including . . . a UV- protective automobile window film.

Babies' skin is extremely sensitive and can burn easily. In fact, babies under 6 months of age should be kept out

 of the sun.

More teenagers and young adults are being diagnosed with skin cancer than ever before. This includes a rise in the

deadliest form of skin cancer - melanoma.

 American Academy of Dermatology:

Tinting automobile glass is an option that allows 3.8 times less UVA light to be transmitted to the interior of the car as compared to untinted window glass.  In a 2004 study of UV transmission and color tint, grey tinted laminated glass

provided the highest UV protection with only 0.9 percent of UVA light transmitted versus 62.8 percent transmitted

through non-laminated clear glass.  People who are considering tinting their windows should take their car to a

professional auto detailing shop, in order to ensure that the tinting meets the federally mandated 70 percent of

minimum visible light transmittance through the windshield.

ComputerCut System

Tint Works uses the most advanced computerized cutting

  system in the industry.

We have over 1200 vehicle patterns in our database, and

  the number grows everyday.

Our cutting process is more accurate, faster and efficient than the competition, resulting in

savings and quality which are passed on to you.

Computer cut process eliminates cutting on your car with a razor blade or having to remove

     any door panels.

Window Film: Bekaert Solar Gard

Cool It!

By: Emily Hansen

Tested 8/4/2006 to 10/30/2006

Let me set the stage: I live in Colorado where we enjoy 300-plus days of sunshine and, call me crazy,

I drive a black car with black leather interior. In midsummer, when the temperature reaches the century

mark, the inside temperature of my car reaches about a billion degrees. Yes, a billion. So, with some

hesitation, I have Bekaert Solar Gard Window film installed on my own personal vehicle in heat of the

summer and the results have been impressive. Because of my aversion to being “too cool” I opt for a

nearly clear film for all of the windows in my car (except on the windshield, of course).

Solar Gard window tints do much more than just make me incognito. The most important thing they provide is true UV protection

for me and my passengers. I put sunscreen on my kids every time they play outside. Why wouldn’t I want them to be protected

in the car, where we seem to spend a good portion of our time? Nearly 100 percent of UV rays are rejected by the Solar Gard Film.

Previous to this installation, I thought the slight tinting that came standard on my car (from the manufacturer) was protecting me

and my family. That is not true. Manufacturer’s tinting is simply colored glass, which offers little or no protection from UV light.

The inside of my car could not be called cool, by any stretch of the imagination, but it is so much cooler that I can actually sit on

the driver’s seat in shorts. My kids even notice a difference. My daughter says, “Mom, my buckle isn’t burning hot anymore”.

Another benefit of the window film is that it basically binds the window together, so in the case of an accident it will actually hold

most of the glass intact, even if the window shatters. Imagine a big, very sticky, sticker on a piece of glass. Now imagine how

that sticker would hold all the little chards of glass together after your 5-year-old dropped the glass from his second-story window.

Get it? No shattered glass flying around your car in an accident. That is a very valuable feature for my peace of mind.

Finally, I must say that my skepticism is gone. The windows look fabulous, the film comes in a variety of shades so I can go

nearly clear or “famous” (please check with your local traffic laws before going to the super-secret-spy level) and the color can

match your personal style, from smoke to bronze. There is no peeling or bubbling like the iridescent tinting on my neighbor’s

1985 Yugo. Bekaert’s lifetime warranty gives me confidence that the tinting on my car will be in good shape for years to come.

   How Does Window Film Work?

Tint is created when tinting film is bonded onto a piece of window glass. Tinting film is usually

made out of clear polyester film with a very thin and even layer of tinting agents such as dyes

and/or metals deposited onto the film.

A common misconception is that window tint is dark and night-time driving is impossible when a

car is tinted. The truth is that there are films of any darkness that suits your preference. Also,

unlike sunglasses that do impair your ability to drive at night, tinting film is designed to reduce

glare and not impede night-time driving.

Once tinting film is applied to a window, the characteristics of how visible light comes into the

car changes. Normal auto glass without tint reflects around 5% of visible light (known as VLR%),

absorbs another 5% (known as VLA%) and transmits 90% of visible light (known as VLT%) into

the car.

Depending on the type and quality of tinting film applied to a window these percentages change

dramatically. Some tint are more reflective and others absorb more light. The number you will most

commonly see is the VLT% (Visible Light Transmittance). Almost all the official names of films

include the VLT%. The VLT% tells you how much visible light is allowed to shine into the car

and also indirectly how dark the tint looks.

For maximum heat rejection, look for films with a high solar energy reflectance rating.

Quantum is a premium all-metal film created with a special patented metallizing process. It has a neutral

appearance that complements the interior and exterior of any vehicle. Rejects most heat.

When sunlight strikes

glass, solar energy is either transmitted through the pane of glass, absorbed by the glass or reflected away from the glass. The type of glass and window film applied causes varying

transmittance results, shown as a percent – this is the amount of solar energy that entered through the glass and film.

PRWeb Press Release Newswire, Martinsville, VA (PRWEB) July 14, 2006

More and more car owners are turning to laminate security window film to deter the opportunistic thief.

Polyester film can be professionally installed as a retrofit application in a matter of hours, protecting the occupants

from smash-and-grab thievery. Some types can protect against heat gain, damaging ultraviolet rays, and road noise

as well.

Ultimately, window film is your best insurance if you live in or travel through congested urban areas. The cost of the protection varies by film type, thickness, and size of the vehicle, but applications are reasonably priced. Compared to

the cost of replacing a laptop computer, the security window film is a bargain.

Questions to ask a tint shop

     1) How long have you been in business at this location? Do you have other shops in the area?

Good tint shops prosper despite local competition by offering good service at reasonable

         prices.

     2) What type of film do you carry? What warranty do you offer on your work?

When you purchase your tint, be sure you get a manufacture's warranty card from the dealer

with the date, the window film used on each window and the total cost of installation as

         well as the receipt.

     3) Can I visit your tint shop? Can you show me a sample of your work?

Good dealers pay attention to customer service. They should be happy and willing to spend the time to talk

to you and explain how their shops work.

Answers to Most Frequently Asked Questions

Can I put after-market tinting on the windows of my vehicle?

The main requirements for legal window tinting in California are:

  1. The windshield and front driver's side and passenger's side windows cannot receive any aftermarket tinting.

  2. If the rear window of a vehicle is tinted, the vehicle must have outside rearview mirrors on both sides.

The law prohibits any person from driving any motor vehicle with any object or material placed, displayed, installed, affixed,

or applied upon the windshield or side or rear windows, with certain limited exceptions.

However, legislation signed into law effective January 1, 1999, exempts from the above prohibition specified clear,

colorless and transparent material that is installed, affixed, or applied to the front driver and passenger side windows

for the specific purpose of reducing ultraviolet rays. If, as, or when this material becomes torn, bubbled or otherwise

worn, it must be removed or replaced.
